Hey, I’m Slangers – or as the business card says, the face behind Slang Makeup.

Makeup has always been my thing. It started as the calm before the storm – me alone, music up, transforming from chill and casual to either a full-blown glamazon or the softest fairy on the block. But over time, it grew into something bigger. I’ve always loved the creativity and artistry of special effects makeup, but somewhere along the way, I found myself falling in love with beauty and bridal too – especially the moments where someone sees themselves in a new light and just glows from the inside out.

I officially kicked off my makeup journey after finishing a Bachelor of Communication (Theatre/Media) in Bathurst, where I was deep in costume design and performance. After a couple of years and far too much bunting, I woke up one day and thought: what am I doing? Makeup has always been my passion – why shouldn't it be my job?

So I packed up, moved to Brisbane, and studied a Diploma of Screen and Media in Specialised Makeup at AACM. That was the end of 2019. Since then, it’s been a wild ride – including a brief stint as an accidental debt collector (don’t ask) – but I finally found my way back to what I love.

These days, I get to do it all – from editorial and runway, to formal and bridal, to prosthetics and fake fingers (yep, literally). I'm now also studying a Cert III in Hairdressing, because why not keep growing? I’m not here to be pigeonholed – I want to do it all, and do it with joy.

Slang Makeup is for everyone. It’s informal, it's real, and it’s rooted in connection. I love working with everyone – from wild grannies to HSC warriors, the girls, the gays, the theys, the shy, the loud, the ones finding themselves, and the ones who’ve lived a hundred lives. Whether you speak eight languages or none, this is a space for you.

To me, makeup isn’t about hiding – it’s about expression, play, and highlighting the beauty that’s already there.

If you’re scared of makeup, of people, or even just showing up as yourself – you don’t have to be when you’re with me.

This is art, this is heart, and this is Slang.

Lots of love, Slangers.
